15/02/2007 | New-Look LGPS 2008 Administration Draft Regulations 2007
As stated in their letter of 29 January 2007 the DCLG released for consultation draft regulations to introduce various measures to improve the administration and governance of the scheme. These regulations consist primarily of those existing provisions of the 1997 Regulations that need to be carried forward as part of the New-Look LGPS arrangements from 1 April 2008. They also contain the provisions detailed in the DCLG’s letter of 29 January 2007 which will amend the 1997 regulations initially, but will be given statutory effect after 31 March 2008. |

14/02/2007 | LGE Circular 194 – LGE response to the New-Look LGPS 2008 Draft Regulations
The Local Government Employers (LGE) issued Circular 194 which brings to the attention of authorities the draft Local Government Pension Scheme (Benefits, Membership and Contributions) Regulations 2007, which were issued by the Department for Communities and Local Government on 22 December 2007. The circular also gives details of the LGE's proposed response to those draft regulations. |

24/11/2006 | New-Look Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) 2008 Proposals Announcement
The Minister for Local Government and Cohesion, Phil Woolas MP, in a written statement to both Houses of Parliament, announced the structure of the proposed new-look Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The proposals followed detailed discussions between the local government employers and the local government trade unions. |
